Internet Survivor Survivors Ver.1.01 Update Notes

The first numbered patch after launch: Endless stability, keyboard defaults, and a prologue hold-to-replay trick.

Patch 1.01 Notes

COOL&CREATE shipped Ver.1.01 on 17 August 2026, one day after the Steam launch. This page is the wiki copy of that Steam news post, plus the practical notes players need when they open controls or Endless mode. Live follow-ups sit on Ver.1.02.

Do not treat community wishlists as patch text. The bullets below come from the official news entry. When a sentence here disagrees with Steam, Steam wins.

Official changelog (Ver.1.01)

Bug fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the game could crash after playing Endless Mode for an extended period.
  • Fixed an issue where the key configuration could not be reset if the Z key was assigned to Cancel.

Additions and adjustments

  • Added some new elements to Endless Mode (Steam did not publish a full item list in the news post).
  • Added WASD for movement, Enter for Confirm, and Backspace for Cancel as default keyboard controls.
  • Added a feature that lets you replay the prologue by holding the Confirm button until loading finishes when launching the game.
  • Removed configuration and key-configuration settings from Steam Cloud synchronization. Only game progress data syncs now.

Endless mode after the crash fix

Launch-week reports described hitching near 25 minutes, Coin drought near 30, and rare crashes past 50. Version 1.01 specifically targets the long-session crash. That does not magically delete hitching or the Coin stop. Play Endless for the 30-minute achievement, then leave on purpose. Details and session plans stay on the Endless mode guide.

“New elements” in Endless are real according to Steam, but unnamed. Do not invent a second shop or a second playable because a news line used the word “elements.” If you spot a new spawn, note it and cross-check Steam discussions before rewriting best builds.

Keyboard defaults and the Z-key Cancel bug

Before 1.01, keyboard players had to hunt for a comfortable layout. After 1.01, a fresh install should already feel like other survivor-likes: WASD to steer, Enter to confirm menus, Backspace to cancel. Controllers remain recommended on the store page; the patch simply stops keyboard users from fighting the first boot.

The Z-as-Cancel reset bug mattered for Japanese-layout muscle memory and for anyone who mirrored older Touhou binds. If your custom map still looks wrong after updating, reset binds once locally. Remember that Cloud no longer restores those binds from another PC — that is intentional in 1.01.

Prologue replay

Hold Confirm through the launch load to replay the prologue. Use it when you want the joke intro again, when a friend sits down, or when you are filming a streaming guidelines-friendly opener. It is not a new campaign chapter. Story still funnels into Flandre Scarlet as the only streamer.

Steam Cloud change

Progress still syncs. Keybinds and config do not. That prevents one machine’s Cancel key from poisoning another machine’s install — the exact class of bug 1.01 fixed. If you dual-boot desktop and Deck-class hardware, expect to set binds once per device after 1.01.

What 1.01 did not change

  • Still one playable.
  • Still a roughly 30-level Like budget and four weapon slots.
  • Still Remilia rules from How to beat Remilia.
  • Still no Roblox codes, no multiplayer, no Mac client.

For sale windows, languages, and the C108 disc, stay on launch notes. For the road from the 2022 song to Steam, stay on the development timeline. For whether the game is “worth it” after comfort patches, stay on the review.

Update checklist

  1. Let Steam apply 1.01 (and 1.02 if available).
  2. Confirm WASD / Enter / Backspace on a new profile, or keep your custom map if it already works.
  3. Hold Confirm once if you want the prologue again.
  4. Re-test Endless only if you previously crashed; otherwise keep farming short campaign streams.

Version 1.01 is the stability floor. Version 1.02 is the clarity pass. Neither replaces a 30-level plan from the build planner.
